How to setup a catch all POP account??

This is probably a simple thing, but how can I make all mail sent to none
existing POP accounts or none existing aliases forwarded or rerouted to only
one specific pop account?

any info is greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but here's my answer anyway
:>

in /etc/aliases,

just make an entry for each acount name you want to bounce and the new
address
e.g.

To perform the mass bounce (a reversed list?) backwards, just type the above
line for each account and make sure to forward to address is the specific
one you'd like to recieve the mail in.  To go the other way, (redirecting
one account to many) do this:

Depending you your version of sendmail, you may need to execute newaliases
after you've edited the file (Sun Solaris = no, Sun OS4 = yes, RedHat Linux
= yes).

Hope that helps,

If I understand you, this is what you are saying...

No easy way to do that.  You could add some entries to /etc/aliases to
forward the e-mail to "def", but you are going to have to come up with
every single 8 character combination that's valid for a username and
throw it in (perhaps you could write a small program to generate such
an aliases file).

You are probaly better off just forwarding "postmaster" to "def" so
that all the bounce messages go to the account "def" (though the
sender will still get a bounce message).

What's the real problem you are trying to solve?  Do you not want bounce
messages going out so that someone can't use e-mail to verify valid user
names?  Perhaps the sendmail.cf is really the place to "fix" this "problem"?
