SYSTEMS MANAGER
Position Responsibilities
This position is responsible for management and operations of the R&E Data
Center, comprised of HP/HP-UX and DEC VAX/VMS systems. Responsibilities
include installation and configuration of computer and network hardware;
installation of operating systems, network and layered application
software; performance monitoring and tuning of systems; problem
identification and resolution; development of UNIX scripts and system
administrative programs.
This individual will lead/participate in an information systems team of
six-eight individuals, supporting the development, implementation and
ongoing administration/support of information technology to meet the
requirements of the Research & Engineering department.
Qualifications:
In depth knowledge of HP-UX operating, network and cluster management. In
depth knowledge of VAX/VMS operating system, cluster and network
management. Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DECnet, LAT & LAST network
protocols. Demonstrated strong technical problem solving ability.
Experience in managing and monitoring performance and tuning of systems and
layered applications. Excellent organizational skills. Strong team
oriented skills. Effective *and written communications and
interpersonal skills. Experience in C++ programming language.
Educational Requirements
B.S. in Computer Science, MIS or related field, or equivalent experience
