I am a student at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. I am doing a
research project on interaction between customers and service employees -
waitresses, sales associates, bartenders, car salesmen, fast food workers,
hairdressers, etc. If you serve the public in any manner, you could help
me with my project - the focus of which is to prove that the saying The
customer is always right is untrue. What I want are examples of
experiences you had where the customer was clearly wrong and you were
right, but you had to bite your lip, smile and serve the person(s) without
losing your cool. Please tell me your story. Also, please tell me what
you would have said or done if you could have without the fear of losing
your job. In other words, this is your chance to blow off some steam.
Please describe the situation as best as you can remember. Thank you very
much in advance! Please send your story or stories to the following e-mail
