although it seems in this case, that you have enough space in /tmp and
/var/tmp, I'd recommend, to not to use /tmp and /var/tmp as separate memfs
filesystems. Save a copy of /etc/vfstab, edit /etc/vfstab and remove the two
lines for /tmp and /var/tmp and reboot the machine. Check, if the problem
reappears.

Mail error - "No space left on device" - HELP

: Unixware2.1.2:
: UX:mail: ERROR: Write error in copymt(): No space left on device
: 817: cleantempfiles() unlinking /var/tmp/maila000Cl

On UnixWare 2.03, the default is to set up /var/tmp as a 'memfs' file
system, which uses memory and swap space as file space.

I found this often ran out of space while spooling large email
messages, so I removed the following line from /etc/vfstab:

/var/tmp        -       /var/tmp        memfs   -       yes     swapmax=10485760,rootmode=1777

umount /var/tmp
rmdir /var/tmp
ln -s /tmp /var/tmp

This left me with /tmp and /var/tmp as the same directory, which is on
a separate, and suitably large, file system.

Could you be out of inodes ?

1. Error "/bin- no space left on device"- Rookie Adnmin needs help

I have a question about a problem I am having while trying to install
software from the CDRom. My system is an IBM RISC6000 model H70, with
7-  9.1GB SSA disks grouped into 1 array, running AIX 4.3.3.

After mounting the cdrom device successfully, I get the following error
while trying to execute the /install command:
"error:  /bin - no space left on device"

I am the only user (root) setup on this brand-new system and can't
figure out why this happening. When I execute the df -v command I notice
that the filesystem dev/hd2 (where /usr is mounted)  is 100% USED. I
also discovered by executing who -dup am i, there are several
"processes" listed for the user root. Could the fact that I have been
using telnet to access the server have something to do with this?

Any sugestions? Thanks in advance!!!!!
