PHP compile errors

Post by WB3KU » Wed, 27 Oct 1999 04:00:00

We are trying to compile PHP to help us with our Netscape Web Server, we
may switch to Apache.  We are running Compaq (old DEC) Alpha with Tru64
Unix (aka. Digital Unix, OSF1).  We are looking for the correct news
group to post our questions, but the only one we can find is in French.
One one here speaks French and we don't want to insult anyone on this
news group by posting in English.

Try comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix.  BTW, I hope you are aware that
Compaq no longer supports Netscape Enterprise Server.  They've gone to
Apache due to cost considerations (US$1295 for Netscape per vs freeware$0
for Apache).  We're holding off our next upgrade until our support people
can manage the transition.

1. PHP compile error, on alloca

Hello,
I am trying to compile the source of PHP 4.1.0 on  4.3.3

I am sure all my $LIB_PATH /$PATH are OK. But it bombs out on the following
error.

ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .alloca
make[1]: *** [php] Error 8

I have tried both make &  gnu-make using the aix 'C'.
Has anybody out there got PHP source to compile on aix ?

regards
DT
