This is for anyone who can answer.

I have a DNS server setup and as far as I can tell it is setup
correctly.  But when I do an nslookup from a pc I get the following
error:

*** Can't find server name for address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx : Non-existent
domain
*** Default servers are not available
Server:  UnKnown
Address:  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

The xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is in place of the address of the server address.
And it continues to get back the lookup information.

Anyone have any idea about what is not correctly configured, I would
really appreciate a heads up.

Before you buy.

You don't have reverse DNS for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx set up correctly.  nslookup
(but not DNS in general) requires that the default server be able to
perform reverse lookup of its own address.
