Hi,

I am looking for an admin tool under any Unix OS which would generate some
TCP packets to evaluate our network under harsh conditions.
Something like a "reverse" tcpdump may be...

If anyone could help me, I'll be greatful.

traffic generators are actually quite easy to find. if it's SYNs you want,
look for things like port* (an inetd process table attack tool) or any of
the SYN flood tools (see phrack magazine for SYN flooding stuff or any hacking
archives). if you want to replay traffic from a tcpdump write out, look into

(packet_blast specifically).

the links on those pages may also be of interest to you (for congestant). and
finally, look into AntiSniff from the L0pht, http://www.veryComputer.com/ (or
http://www.veryComputer.com/). it generates a buttload of traffic.
