Hello. Can anyone help  me with this request?

I need a function that return a proper Date of a past date.
Say, Today is 10/14/1997 I need to get the date of x number of days ago!
e.g.  what is the Date of 11 days ago? I'll b very happy to solve this
problem.

Get gnu-date, which replaces date and can eg:

EXAMPLES

  To print the date of the day before yesterday
       date --date '2 days ago'

  To print the date of the day three months and one day hence
       date --date '3 months 1 day'

  To print the day of year of Christmas in the current year
       date --date '25 Dec' +%j
