Local Printer Script Not Executing (UW7.1 and VSI*Fax)

Local Printer Script Not Executing (UW7.1 and VSI*Fax)

Post by Dan Sta » Tue, 05 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Hi,

I hope that someone can help me here.  I need to setup a local printer
for the VSI*Fax application.  The following shows my printer setup:

  # lpstat -l -p vsifaxptr1
  printer vsifaxptr1 disabled since Mon Oct  4 17:02:07 CDT 1999.
available.
        unknown reason
        Form mounted:
        Content types: simple
        Printer types: unknown
        Description: Other
        Connection: direct
        Interface: /var/spool/lp/admins/lp/interfaces/vsifaxptr1
        On fault: no alert
        After fault: continue
        Users allowed:
                all
        Forms denied:
                all!all
        Banner not required
        Character sets:
                (none)
        Default pitch:
        Default page size:
        Default port settings:

Here is the script file:

  # pwd
  /etc/lp/interfaces
  # cat vsifaxptr1
  # This interface script is for the VSI*FAX printer.  It provides
  # an lp interface to the faxing engine.  See VSI*FAX manual for
  # more details. (Dan Star 08/29/1999)
  #
  touch /home/Public/vsifax-test-script
  # Set the VSI*FAX environment
  ./etc/vsifax3.sh
  # Store the login name of the submitter
  LOGIN=$2
  # Extract the fax phone number
  FAXNUM="$5"
  # Extract the file to be faxed
  shift 5
  FILES="$*"
  # Submit the fax request
  vfx -U $LOGIN -n "$FAXNUM" -E fine $FILES 2>&1 | vmail $LOGIN

When I enable the printer and send it a job:

  # lp -d vsifaxptr1 -o 255-6512 /home/stardan/test-print
  request id is vsifaxptr1-577 (1 file)

the job spools, but I don't see the touched file in /home/Public so I
don't think the script is executing.  Could someone help me out?
