there used to be a very nice, very large list of unix admin books at
rtfm.mit.edu, organized by security, admin, shell scripts, general, etc.,
but it's gone now. since i have a very strong suspicion that i'm about to
become a sysadmin i'd really like that list or a couple of suggestions.
i've got frisch's essential sysadmin, but i recall there's another
o'reilly book that's more technical. anybody know it's name? i'll also
take suggestions on non-o'reilly books, of course.
i'm a network geek whose unix experience is pretty much limited to hooking
pcs and macs up to unix servers using rexec, etc., so i'm not completely
unix-stupid, but i don't have 10 years experience as a sysadmin. on the
other hand, i just finished installing perl5 and am now working on a wais
server, so i'm stuggling through the makefiles - hopefully that gives you
an idea of my level of "expertise".
