Is there a unix utility that I can use to return key scan codes
for a non-graphics terminal?

I can anyone advise or tell me how to read a function key, F1 for example on
the unix platform from a C program.  I would be very greatful if any advice or

The only way I can think of doing this is to manipulate the termcap database
file, but I don't think this would be the best solution.
