HP DeskJet560C under Linux

HP DeskJet560C under Linux

Howdy!

Anybody happen to have the correct printcap file settings for
an HP DeskJet 560C under Linux? I can't seem to get it to print
corrctly. Almost looks like a linefeed/CR problem, and changing
the switch setting on the printer doesn't seem to do any good
either.. :-(

Any hints would be appriciated...

                Thanx'

While I'm not a *real* sysadmin (I can only be root at home <g>), I do
have an HP Deskjet 540 printcap file that works for me.  I'm using
RedHat 4.1.  Here are two versions of the printcap file; the first is
what I'm using right now.  The second has been modified with the RedHat
printtool program to convert LFs to CR/LFs.  While a 540 and a 560C are
not the same, hopefully these two versions of printcap will help.

Working printcap:

# /etc/printcap
#
# Please don't edit this file directly unless you know what you are
doing!
# Be warned that the control-panel printtool requires a very strict
format!
# Look at the printcap(5) man page for more info.
#
# This file can be edited with the printtool in the control-panel.

##PRINTTOOL3## LOCAL cdj500 300x300 letter {} DeskJet500 24 {}
lp:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
        :mx#0:\
        :sh:\
        :lp=/dev/lp1:\
        :if=/var/spool/lpd/lp/filter:

######end of printcap file

The only difference for the LF->CR/LF verision of printcap is the line:

##PRINTTOOL3## LOCAL cdj500 300x300 letter {} DeskJet500 24 1

You could also try

man 5 printcap

or get the printtool RPM from RedHat's Web site.  Good luck.

1. Solaris 2.5.1 / HP JetAdmin D3.15 / HP JetDirect / Non-HP-Printer

Hi,

I run the above configuration and it works almost fine. I've created a
model script as descipt in HPs Electronic Support Center. But I've still
some troubles:

1. lp appends no form feed to my printing.
2. I've still PJL commands in my printings.

Has anybody experiences with similar problems?

Thx Mue
