You could truncate utmp, but it gets truncated to 0 on reboot anyway in
/etc/rc.single (Suns).  utmp will not keep "growing".  I don't think it
will ever exceed (lines in /etc/ttys ) * ( sizeof struct utmp ), (9900
bytes on my machine.).

You should rotate or (truncate to 0) wtmp as often as necessary to keep
it from filling its filesystem.

1. location of utmp wtmp in utmp.h

When building sysVinit using libc4.4 I found that 'last' was looking
for /etc/utmp and /usr/adm/wtmp.  I found that it was getting these
locations from /usr/include/utmp.h.  Why this strange inconsitency?

Is this a mistake?  Should utmp.h be changed to put both in /etc?
