This means that there's no reverse DNS entry for your nameserver's
address.  Get your DNS administrator to add it.

Well... you didn't say what host or domain you were trying to look
up, but it sounds kind like the host or domain you were trying to
look up

A) doesn't exist,
B) doesn't have any nameservers (which is just as good as A), or
C) doesn't have any nameservers that your machine can currently
connect to (which might just be a network/routing problem).

Post more details? :)

Problem with DNS

well first you have to enter in the /etc/hosts the entries for the DNS
servers.
Then do :
# ypinit -c
it will ask you to enter the DNS servers
then add the domainname in the /etc/defaultdomain

This should be enough to solve your problem

1. Problem with DNS.

I always got "Non-authoritative answer:" when I try to resolve a server's IP
using nslookup. I added new records in my DNS database, but I forgot to
increase the serial number in db.local.( I increased the SOA serial number
in db.mydomain.) is that the reason? What can I do to solve this problem? I
have increased the serial number in db.local now and restart in.named. It
seems that it still not work now. Do I need to wait until the refresh time
come?
