help! booting in loop

Post by George Jos » Sun, 16 Mar 1997 04:00:00

Well I did it now. I tried to add a mount line to my vfstab file and
for some reason my sparcstation 2 computer goes into this endless loop
of re-booting. I get the following error:

mount: warning: line for  "/dev/dsk/c0t3d0s1" in vfstab has too few
enteries.

mount: warning: line for "Segmentation Fault

/sbin/swapadd: /usr/sbin/swap: not found

The / file system (/dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s0) is being checked.
/sbin/rcS: /usr/sbin/fsck: not found

*** SYSTEM WILL REBOOT AUTOMATICALLY ***
syncing file systems... done
rebooting...

That's the message I get everytime and the systems keeps on rebooting
over and over. I can Control-C and end up in the System Maintanance
Mode but I don't know what to do from there. I can seem to edit the
vfstab file ( can't get Vi to work now)

My system consist of a Sparcstation 2 running SunOs 5.3  System V
release 4.0

please help, thanks! george-

Try to boot single user and then fix the /etc/vfstab file.
        I guess that /dev/dsk/c0t3d0s1 is mounted as /usr ...

1. Difference between Installing from Ins Svr and Boot Svr?

What's the difference between installing from an install
server and a boot server?  I believe one can install
from the boot server, as well. If so, where does it
get its install image, from the install server?
