Printing from unix to printer queue in Novell Network

Printing from unix to printer queue in Novell Network

Post by PAda » Wed, 19 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I am trying to print from SUN  OS 5.5.1 to a printer Queue on Novell.  I
have configured the UNIX box to print to the Queue, but it does not work.
What, if any setups have to be done on the Novell side?

On the UNIX side I used 'lpadmin -p local-name -s
novell-system!remote-queue

You help is appreciated!

I played with this problem for a while and finally gave up and
went
for a third-party solution. RPM (Remote Print Manager) by Brooks
Internet Software
Link to www.brooksnet.com.

It runs great and uses minimal memory/resources on a client PC
attached to
the Novell print queue.

Hope it helps.

If you don't already have an LPR/LPD package for your NetWare server,
you may want to consider our SDLPD software package.

With SDLPD loaded, your NetWare server will have full LPR & LPD
compatibility with your unix hosts for sending and receiving
print jobs.

You can download our trial copy of the software from our web site:

        http://www.peak.org/~sdesign

Full documentation is provided with the software.  If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact us at the address below.

Good luck,
