customized error pages? ('rare' webservers)

Post by chari » Tue, 04 Jun 2002 19:07:29

hi!

does anyone know if there is the possibility to have customized error pages
on these webservers:

- webtopia
- vqserver
- tclhttpd
- stronghold
- simpleserver
- servertec
- rapidsite
- jetty
- firstclass
- badblue
- jigsaw
- goahead
- rompager

(and does anybody know how this works related to these webservers?)

I'd like to write a kind of 'documentation' about this "error
handling"....so I would be *really* glad if anybody
could help.

I've only cared about Apache, StrongHold (which is basically Apache but
just better) and Zeus, so I can't help you with the others. However,
StrongHold is very close or exact on a lot of things that you'd do in
Apache. Zeus, for the most part (although I don't have a lot of
experience with that) appears to be pretty straight forward. Perhaps you
can go to the relevant sites and read their documentation to be sure.
Smaller, less known and differently built web servers, you're likely not
going to find too many people that are really familiar with all of them,
especially things like tclhttpd, simpleserver, httpdi, etc.

Thanks for your reply.
It's very easy to find out how that "custom-error-thingy" works related to
apache, microsoft iis and so on,
but for the "rare" webservers I could not find anything in their
documentations...
And of course, I don't expect that one person is familiar with all of these
webservers.
It would be enough if somebody can help me with one of them :)

1. 'rare' Network Problem

-- Hi,

I have a very rare problem and I am looking for a solution.
I have a Debian server on a stable line with 7 clients inside. Most of
then use Windows and I of course use Debian. Whenever the server is
Offline due to an hardware update or whatever I am not able to boot my
machine. Even if the networkconnection between my computer and the
server is down I cannot boot ! Lilo boots and detects all the hardware
and when I enter Runlevel 6 it stops at : starting syslogd.
When my machine is already booted and the net-connection dies then I
cannot execute commands on my machine ; i.e I can't start X.

I troubled lots of people in my neighbourhood and local guru's but I
can't seem to find a solution. Has anyone got ANY idea ???

So far I thought about NFS, DNS and remote syslog but I can't figure it
out. Any help would be VERY welcome.
