CERN HTTPD Protection Problems

CERN HTTPD Protection Problems

Post by Hellmer Rahms Casanov » Thu, 05 Oct 1995 04:00:00

Hello,

I am setting up protection on some directories using the CERN Http Server,
and getting many problems. If I follow Ari Loutonens instructions, nothing
works; there are even directives (like ACLOverRide) that are not recognized.
Our version is 3.0, while the documentation belongs to 2.17, but that's what
I got.
If I use normal protection setups, nothing happens: no errors, no protection
If I use ACL, I get a message telling me that there might be a setup syntax
error, but the setup has been thoroughly checked. It seems to me that there
are errors in the documentation, as it happened with the ImageMap support,
where the map configuration file syntax was wrong in the documentation.
If somebody could redirect me to more accurate or actual documentation,
I would be extremely grateful.

1. Access Protection using CERN httpd

Using CERN's httpd, is there a way to prevent access to a set of
documents from a specific IP address/domain?

e.g. - I want everyone to be able to see a set of documents
*except* those hosts in the *.somecompany.com domain.

Thanks.
