NCSA 1.4.2 / Linux 1.2.8 / Virutal Hosts

Post by J » Fri, 27 Oct 1995 04:00:00

What would be the easiest way (or where can I find some instructions) to
configure Virutal Hosts with NCSA's HTTPD 1.4.2 Server with Linux 1.2.8?

It appears I have to add alias'ing to Linux's ifconfig, among many other
things.  Could somone send me their ifconfig that has alias support in
it? (I tried re-compiling after applying a patch for this and it didn't
work).

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

A complied ifconfig and netstat with IP alias functionality
 can be obtained from,

NCSA 1.4.2 / Linux 1.2.8 / Virutal Hosts

I also need this kind of help.

I want to configure a linux 1.2.3 + apache 0.8.14 system to run
multi-domain web-server. I tried to install the dummy module using

        insmod -o dummy0 dummy.o

(see http://www.your.net/multi-homed/linux.html). But what i got is
"kernel-vesion undefined". (???) I have linux 1.2.3 installed last
Aug., compiled and built the modules and the kernel at that time.
Why is 'kernel-version undefined'? I am new to linux, especially to
its 'unstable' kernel versions. Hope some experienced linux gurus
could help me to handle this problem.

Thanks in advance,

I can give you a pre-compiled kernel with precompiled NCSA or apache if your
machine is similar to Motorcycle Online's -- a VESA-based machine w/o
scsi or dos weenie support. For the httpd, you'd have to mirror our
directory structure, but that's no big deal.

We even have inet scripted to load the multiple ips at boot time...

1. Aliases for virutal hosts.

Hi,
We are changing the name of one of our email servers. To help with
migration, I want to keep the old name availble for atleast a few
months so I am looking into setting up a vpop. I am trying this
out on a test machine first. I found something in Linuxconf that
is supposed to do what we need. It says to first setup an alias domain
name under "Aliases for virutal hosts" Its supposed to be
straightforwared and "just work" yet it doesn't. We already have
a spare name/ip in our dns for this purpose and thats what I used for
the virtual domain/ip but no go. Ping, telnet etc can't connect to
anything. Same with traceroute.
So if linuxconf can't do it, can  someone tell me which conf  files
I should modify manually?

Thanks, Fletch
