Need CGI-usable CBR engine for WWW server

Need CGI-usable CBR engine for WWW server

Post by David R. Newma » Sat, 29 Jun 1996 04:00:00

I am looking for a Case-Based Reasoning Engine that can be run from
a CGI script on a World Wide Web server.

Ideally, I'm looking for something that student groups can use to
develop case bases, then put onto a Web server. Once there, people
could interact with the case base through Web forms and CGI, to
guide them to the right cases (as opposed to the ones they asked for).
Typical applications: tourist information or student module choice.

Failing that, a KBS shell that can run from a CGI script might do some
of the things I'm looking for.

Have you looked at the CBR tool from Inference
(http://www.inference.com/). It has a web front-end that can be used to
access the Case Server.

However, it isn't particularly cheap so it might be out of the price
range of "student groups" :-)

1. Help needed with CGI scripts for Unix WWW server

Hiya,

I have never used perl before, but I have to write a script for a WWW
server in perl. I was wondering if anyone could give me some
information, or where to get it, about how to use perl to get the
information from a WWW client, and then to respond with some of the
information back to the client.

If somebody out there has a script that will give me an example of
this I would be very grateful.

Here's what I want to do:-

I have a form with 5 keys. I want the server to append all five fields
to the end of a file, and also return four of the keys back to the
client (for confirmation).

Thanks in advance,

Nick
