Need help in Error: Authorization Required

Need help in Error: Authorization Required

Post by Mayank S. Pandi » Wed, 11 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I am running Apache 1.2 version.  I have configured ErrorDocument
directive but can not get the web server to execute a local cgi script
for a local
redirect.  I get the message,

"Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the
document you requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g.,
bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the
credentials required."

Please advise.

Thanks,

Mayank

1. HELP: Apache, SunOS5.1, .htaccess and 401 Authorization required error

We've got several password protected directories on our server. At the
moment, if anyone cancels the password entry dialogue, they get the
standard Apache 401 error.

I tried adding an ErrorDocument line to the .htaccess file in the
protected directory to bounce failures to a html file one directory
above the protected directory, but then every access to the protected
directory is bounced straight to the new error message - you aren't even
asked for a password.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
