Secure Apache 1.1.3 Server under Linux 2.0.27

Post by George R. Kasic » Thu, 06 Feb 1997 04:00:00

Hello:

Just a quick question:

I'm running Apache 1.1.3 under Linux 2.0.27 and its working just fine with
one exception:  How do I get SSL/SHHTP enabled on the Apache Server? I've
looked through all the docs and can't find anything. I'd really like to ge
this working soon, since I'm hoping to sell www space on a server we just
set up.

Thanks in advance,

SSL isnt a standard Apache feature. Outside of the USA you build SSLeay and
apply the SSL patches and you get an shttpd to go with your httpd and
to run the secured stuff.

Inside of the US because of certain weird bits of US law you will have to
buy a commercial Apache (or other server) with SSL and stuff or figure out
how to buy a pile of patent licenses.
