1. AIX login authentication question
Hi there,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a login authentication
question. I'm
trying to set up root's account under AIX to use a one-time password
program
that we use on all our systems to enhance security. I've run into a
couple of
problems though when working with the /etc/security/user file and the
/etc/security/login.cfg
file.
When I set auth1 for root like:
auth1 = onetime (where onetime is defined in login.cfg),
and log in as root, it executes the onetime program, but then it
executes the normal
password authentication program which I don't want it to do. I can
set SYSTEM to
be "none" in root's stanza, but then I found the CDE logins ignore
the auth1 variable,
but do use the SYSTEM variable which then results in no
authentication being done
on the console.
Does anyone know if there's a way I can separtely specify the
authentication method
to be used for CDE console login? Alternatively, is there a way I can
specify a custom
authentication method with the SYSTEM variable (or is it just limited
to a few keywords
like "compat" and "DCE") which CDE does seem to pick up ?
Thanks a lot for any help,
Bill Anderson
