Urgent help required: Apache fails to load

I just installed the latest php update for my server at home that runs
Mandrake Linux.  The update rpm was for php 4.0.4pl1.  My apache server
 failed and when I tried to restart it I received the
following error message:

Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/httpd/conf/addon-modules/php.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so into server:
/usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: php_unregister_ini_entries

Please help, I know next to nothing about Apache configuration re PHP and
am at a complete loss as to how to fix this.  I've searched the
newsgroups and have yet to find a solution.

Please email me direct as well as posting to the newsgroup, I'm lost
without my webserver:(

I have managed to solve the problem. Apparently I was still running
mod_php version 4.0.3.  I upgraded to the 4.0.4 rpm and apache was happy
again (and so was I).

        I have a dial up Internet connection. That means each time I log on to
the net I get a dynamic IP address. I got an assignment of making a
chat program in Linux platform. I made a server and a client program
using message queue. The server can accommodate many clients at a time
and the clients can chat between them though all the programs must run
in one machine.

        I want to know that when I am connected to the Internet and I am
running the server program on my computer can my friends who are also
using dial up ppp connection access my server and chat among themselves
using my client program. Just like yahoo messenger. Obviously I will
change my program and implement it using sockets.

        Can I do this? If not then why? If yes then give me some idea about
it.
        Please someone help me. It is very urgent.
