Problems with following sym links in HPUX 10.20

Post by tri.. » Tue, 23 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I have an HPUX 10.20 box running Apache 1.2.4 and have no problems
with following symbolic links (as long as I define the area with the
FollowSymLinks flag). I have attempted to upgrade to Apache 1.3.4 and
it works fine, but will not follow the symlinks that point outside the
doucment root. It will follow symlinks internally to the document root
if they are NOT fully qualified (i.e.
/usr/local/apache/htdocs/somedir) . Fully qualified sym links and
links outside the document root give an error of not being authorized
to view.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

1. find: cannot follow symbolic link sym-link

find sym-link -follow .....

Why would I get this error from find? When I look, the link is there,
the target is there, permissions are fine. When I do it manually, its
fine. But when it is run as part of a cron job, I get this error.

Any ideas? Thanks
