Apache SSL downloading MS Word documents

Post by John Imri » Sat, 04 Jul 1998 04:00:00

I am running Apache 1.2.5 pached with SSL 0.8.1 on IRIX 6.2
I have an intermitent problem involving downloading Microsoft Word
documents.

Some times the document fails to download correctly and both Netscape
3/4 and MSIE 3/4 will either display a blank page or fire ou Word and
word will complain of a fatal disk error.

Has any one else suffered this problem and does any one know of a fix.

Please e-mail me as well as posting to this group

1. converting MIME application/ms-word to a word document...

I have slackware 3.00 installed.

Someone sent me what looks to be a microsoft word file encoded using
some base 64 technique. Can someone tell me what (UNIX) tools I should
use to get this into an actual MSword file?

Thanks & sorry if this seems inappropriate for this group...

The header info at the start of the text is as follows:

Content-Type: application/msword; name="XXX.DOC";
 x-mac-type="42494E41"; x-mac-creator="4D535744"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="XXX.DOC"
