CERN httpd server dies

CERN httpd server dies

Post by Lee David Hall » Wed, 06 Nov 1996 04:00:00

Hi All,

We're running the CERN version 3.0 server on an SGI Challenge S under IRIX 5.3.
The main httpd server periodically dies so that existing connections are Ok,
but new connections are refused. I've looked at the system performance and
can't seem to find any correlation between the server dying and the state of
the system. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has run up against this or
a similar problem.

Thanks in advance.

I never saw that on the OS I am using. Are you sure that you don't have
a ulimit set to a too small value ?

Cheers,
Yann S.

1. CERN ftp server can't open PASV for CERN httpd 3.0

    Hello

    Could you help me ?
I am running CERN proxy httpd 3.0 libwww 2.17 on IRIX 4.0.5.
When I attempt to retrive files from cern ftp ftp://ftp.w3.org/pub/src/
using Mosaic   I get the message "530 Can't open passive connection".
But from other ftp servers, for example ftp://ftp.telebit.com I don't
get such a message and everything is OK. May be I have configured my
httpd.conf not correctly ? Or something else ?

   Regards
