Hey all,

Running Apache 1.3 on Red Hat 7.3.

http://www.foo.com/bar/ works.
http://www.foo.com/bar doesn't.

Why not?  :(

OH NO!!!

Don't *even* tell me my problem is a FAQ... I'm so embarrassed.

Thanks for the pointer. I'm off to read and memorize the entire FAQ
list...   :)

1. mod_dir not working as expected with Apache 2

Hello,

I'm having problems getting my shiny new apache 2 server going
properly. Specifically, mod_dir is not working as I expect.

I am running httpd-2.0.43 with mod_perl-1.99_08 and perl-5.8.0 on
FreeBSD-4.7

/usr/local/apache/bin>./httpd -l | grep dir
  mod_dir.c
  mod_userdir.c

mod_dir is also shown as being loaded by mod_info

So when I request the file http://192.168.0.31/islands/index.html it
is displays perfectly. But when I request http://192.168.0.31/islands
-- which is translated to http://192.168.0.31/islands/ -- I get a
server error. The log says:

[Fri Jan 17 23:43:39 2003] [error] file error - islands/: not
found/home/www/ladyraquel/islands/index.html
-----^

as you can see there's a minor typo in the error message (missing
space), but more importantly, it doesn't tell me anything useful,
since /home/www/ladyraquel/islands/index.html exists and can be
fetched.

Any clues?

Thanks,

- nick
