Help with Apache 1.3 & AIX 3.2.5

Post by BACart » Wed, 01 Jul 1998 04:00:00

I appologise in advance for my inexperience.  I am setting up Apache 1.3 on an
RS6000 running AIX 3.2.5 on an ethernet network (TCP/IP).  I am using a IBM3151
as the console and I have various WIN95 PC's and a NT server on the network. We
use only hard IP addresses since we do not have a DNS server. I have compiled
Apache successfully and started the server, However I was unable to access the
server from the network.  I have no problems getting a session on the NT IIS
system bt nothing from the RS6000.  This system is my production system so I
don't want to crash it.  I have not yet set up any virtual sessions as I have
only 1 IP address. Any help would be much appriciated.

Help with Apache 1.3 & AIX 3.2.5

I just got thru putting up 1.3.0 on AIX 4.1.  Similar curcumstances, no DNS,
hard IP's, very much a UNIX newbie.  The client I was using is NT 4.0 and
MSIE 4.01.... I had to change my properties to connect to the "internet" via
the lan (Normally I dial out, we have no dedicated 'net access)  then just
typed in the IP address of the RS/6k and viola! there it was.   I never have
been able to telnet/ftp/access apache at  the RS and have a dial-up
connection at the same time.... I am surely missing something there, but I
can do one or the other, no prob.  Hope this provides some insight.  Keep in
touch.
