apache's error_log file

apache's error_log file

Post by hugo » Tue, 20 Nov 2001 12:06:51

Hi

Apache's error_log file seems to get larger and larger so it seems there
is no error log rotating mechanism in place. I am running apache-1.3.14
on Irix 6.5.04. Is there a supplementary utility somewhere you can
download to rotate apache's access_log and error_log files?

Thanks

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/logs.html#rotation

Combine that with cron if you want it don't automatically.

1. Apache error_log 'lost connection to client'

We are seeing more 'lost connection to client' errors than we would
expect.  This is with Apache 1.1.3.  With a daily load of about
130,000 hits, we're seeing about 3,000 errors of this type.

Questions:

 1. Isn't this a bit high?

 2. If so, what could be causing them?

This is Sparc 20 running SunOS 4.1.1, not doing much other work.
