installation problem question?

Post by Bob » Sun, 24 Mar 2002 04:02:12

I have a Red Hat Linux 7.2 system that I'm trying to install PHP as a DSO
module with Apache2.

I downloaded php-4.1.2 and ran
"./configure --prefix=/d2/usr2/local/php --with-apxs=/d2/usr2/local/apache/b
in/apxs".

The configure said "/d2/usr2/local/apache/bin/apxs script is most likely
broken."
I went ahead with the make and it failed
make[1]: Entering directory `/d2/downloads/source_php-4.1.2'
/bin/sh /d2/downloads/source_php-4.1.2/libtool --silent --mode=link

make[1]: *** [libphp4.la] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/d2/downloads/source_php-4.1.2'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

I compiled httpd-2.0.32 with
./configure --prefix=/d2/usr2/local/apache --enable-so
make
make install

I have to install in /d2 because I don't have space in the default
locations.

Any pointers or should I give up and compile the PHP source in with Apache
instead of trying DSOs?

More information but still a problem.
http://www.php.net/manual/en/faq.build.php#faq.build.apxs
I have NO "CFG_CFLAGS_SHLIB", "CFG_LD_SHLIB", "CFG_LDFLAGS_SHLIB" lines in
my apxs.
I'm beginning to suspect that it doesn't work with V2 of Apache.

1. Question regarding installation problem w/ Yellow Dog 2.3

Hello all,

I'm having trouble installing Yellow Dog Linux 2.3 on a Power Macintosh
6400/200. The machine has 32MB of RAM and the drive I am trying to
install Linux on is 1GB. Installation runs fine until after I select
Home/Office (I tried installing the Development Workstation package set
but it gives me the same problems). When at the "Transferring packages"
stage of installation (before everything is extracted/installed but
after resolving package dependencies, etc.) my hard drive goes insane
and stalls (I think). I have let it sit at this phase for up to 36 hours
and it does not make any progress. I have been able to install the Base
Install package set with no problems, but obviously, as a new user of
Linux I can't really do anything with it. I need to be able to install
the Home/Office or Development Workstation package sets.

Can anyone help me with this problem? If you could send your answer to

check this group for replies, too, if you don't want to reply via email.

Thanks very much, everyone, for all your help.
