Need to compile Apache/PHP with Oracle

Need to compile Apache/PHP with Oracle

Post by kev » Fri, 09 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I am using Red Hat 6. I have Apache running with the PHP3 module.
I now need to compile it to have Oracle support. I don't seem to have
have any source code for Apache or PHP on my machine (should I have?).
I've downloaded Apache and PHP3 latest distributions (which should
contain source code). Where should I unpack and compile the source, and
how would I make sure that the Apache binary will be output to the same
place it is now? Or do I not need to worry about that, can I just
compile it anywhere then cp the new executable over my old one?

I'm a newbie at compiling/configuring packages, please be gentle :o) I'm
only posting this here cos phpbuilder.com's support forum hasn't been
working since yesterday, and I need to do this quickly.

Also, will I need to move some files (.so files?) from the Oracle
distribution to the compile area?

Thanks in advance,

- Kev

Need to compile Apache/PHP with Oracle

You need to install the apache-devel rpm.

Get the latest php source (3.0.11) unpack it and read the enclosed
documentation - it has details about how to compile for RedHat and which
bits you will need from Oracle (if required)

ps The is no easier solution as far as I am aware - but you will learn alot
doing it this way.

I don't have time to answer this right now.  Post your question to

out.  Also, unpack the PHP tarball anywhere and read through
INSTALL.REDHAT for some ideas.

1. Solaris - PHP- Apache- Oracle : Problem getting PHP installed

hello all-
I hope someone can help me. I am having difficulties getting PHP to
compile properly on my solaris 7 system.

It dies during the make. The error has to do with the stub.lo file-the
exact error is:
stub.lo: File Not Recognized:File Truncated.
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I configured PHP with the following parameters:
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/apxs --with-
oracle=/opt/myoraclehome

Apache was already installed with most modules, includeding the
mod_so module.
I also went in and had to hand configure the apxs file as specified in
the PHP FAQ.

Anyone have any ideas? As usual, I am on a deadline, and totally
stumped.

Thanks!
