Hi all
I'm a trying compile light build of apache 2.0.35, without some useless modules.
when i disable mod_autoindex, and mod_dir still active.. i set up
DirectoryIndex index.htm index.html
if directory don't have this files ... when i get url like / - http://domain.com/
apache response error - 500 ! ...  1.3 version in this case show 404 error ...
in error_log i get strange message about handler httpd/unix-directory bla-bla..
how fix it ? ..  if i enable autoindex -> error code is 503 Forbidden
how disable autoindex and get 404 like a 1.3 version ? ..

config:
<Directory /var/www/htdocs >
Options None
AllowOverride All
</Directory>

Sounds like a bug in 2.0.  Please report it to the bug database.

1. compiled/installed lasted Apache on Linux 2.0.35 kernel

Has anyone tried Apache as a Proxy Cache?

Compiled/installed lasted Apache on Linux 2.0.35 kernel.
I have currently running Apache 1.2.5 on a Linux 2.0.32 with all
standard options going now for quite some time.

I was looking into using Apache as a proxy cache server to cut down on
WAN traffic.

I uncommented out the lib_proxy option in the Configuration file and
used all necessary directives.

Using a Windows 95 with IE 3.0 it will respond to requests but never
store anything in the proxy cache directory or respond anything back
to the workstation.

Though I only got it responding to the normal port 80, always thought
proxies tended to be 1080 or 8080.  Guess thats just a default thing.

The network configuration I tried it on was a private IP address range
internally with IP forwarding on and a dial up connection to the
internet.

Then I tried with IP Masquerade configured and installed and no luck
either way.

Any suggestions?  Has anyone tried Apache as a Proxy Cache?
