Why Is there no 'apachctl' command on my Apache 1.3.19?

Hi,
   I installed Redhat 7.1  (cd1 & cd2) with the Apache 1.3.19 that comes
with it.  I am able to sucessfully start apache via 'httpd start'.

Why is there no 'apachectl' command installed?  I did a find and its not
on my system. Is it is some package I did not load? tks.

Because redhat chooses to ship only what they want.  Similar
functionality is provided by the shipped init script, but it does not
have all the features of apachectl.

Just another reason not to use RedHat. Apachectl doesn't offer any more
options than that which comes within your httpd binary anyway, just makes
life for your fingers easier.

I am having a problem along the same lines with Redhat 7.1 though I have
installed apache from source.  A virtual hosting program is firstly looking
for linuxconf generated files which Redhat has decided isn't worth
installing anymore and httpd doesn't appear around etc/rc.d/init.d/ .

As someone was good enough to point out to me, you can load the GUI based
linuxconf from the CD2 of Redhat 7.1  Its called
'gnome-linuxconf-0.64-1.i386.rpm'.

1. Apache 1.3.19 won't start after reboot without recompile

I have 4 apache installations (different --prefix for each) installed
on a Redhat 6.2 system. All files are on a raid device. They all work
just fine for months of daily access. After the system reboots,
however, I can't start any of them. "apachectl start" returns without
error, but no log files are touched, and there are no httpd processes
running. The only solution is to go to the source directory,
configure, make, make install, apachectl start. After doing that for
each one, they're all happy again - until the next reboot.

My configure looks like this -

./configure \
"--prefix=/tact/opt/apache_fqp" \
"--enable-rule=SHARED_CORE" \
"--enable-module=so" \
"--with-layout=Apache" \

Any ideas? Or additional information I should post?

I've been struggling with this for months and have no ideas.
