newbie - apache 1.3 vs apache 2.0 questions

Post by wazz » Fri, 25 Apr 2003 07:39:11

I am looking to install and configure apache on some solaris servers.

What is the main difference between apache version 1.3.x and version
2.0.x?  Will the 1.3 line evetually be taken over by the 2.0 line?
Why would one choose one version over the other?

Thanks in advance

Wazzu

1. Newbie question: Apache 2.0 from 1.3 - Resources for SSI?

I've installed Red Hat 8.0, with Apache 2.0 and mod_perl et. al.  I
have web pages with server side includes (SSI) that worked with Apache
1.3 on another platform, but the SSIs aren't being parsed by the perl
interpreter anymore.  I've looked through Red Hat's documentation
about what to do to httpd.conf to make sure that the SSIs are handled
properly (i.e. Include conf.d/*.conf, changing Apache:: to ModPerl::),
and I've implemented the changes I understood.  Are there any other
resources that someone can recommend to me (a newbie) that might help
shed light on why the web pages are no longer being handled properly?
