weird error message | Apache 1.3.22 with mod-ssl

Post by evan.co.. » Thu, 18 Oct 2001 01:16:37

I recently re-compiled Apache 1.3.22 with mod-ssl  (2.8.5) and OpenSSL
(0.9.6b). No muss, no fuss - no error messages...everything looking
'normal'.

However, when I try to start the daemon manually, using

/usr/local/bin/httpd -DSSL

I get the following [Warn] message:

[warn] Apache does not support line-end comments. Con
sider using quotes around argument: "#60001"

This is followed by the normal prompt asking for the pass phrase.

What is the [Warn] message referring to? Never seen it before...

Thanks!

The only place 60001 shows up anywhere that I know of is in the
httpd.conf file, where I have

Group #60001

as the directive (assigning group).

Any ideas?

Well, changing the directive to

Group "#60001"

got rid of the [Warn] message on daemon start.

Weird...little changes like that are so annoying.

1. directory-specific error messages | Apache 1.3.22

I host a series of class-related web pages on my server, and many of
the owners of these pages are wondering if there is any way to direct
errors from a specific directory to a specific page. At the moment,
all errors are redirected to specified general error pages (for
example, all 404 errors go to the generic 404 error page for the
server).

I thought about trying something tricky with a Javascript in the
header of the error papge, to reidrect depending upon the referring
directory, but got to thinking there must be a better way.

I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!
