Problems authorizing users with NCSA httpd 1.5.1

Post by Mohamed Hendaw » Sun, 30 Jun 1996 04:00:00

I recently installed 1.5.1 and noticed that
all of my .htaccess files with
"require group group_name" LIMIT directives no
longer work.  If I do a "require user usernames"
it works fine, but not for groups (one or many).
I am running Solaris 2.4.

Anyone run into the same problem?

Never mind.  I found the problem myself in the
source.  The "in_group" function in "http_auth.c"
was modified and now it just stops parsing the
group-file when it encounters a blank line.  So
the bottom line is: no blank lines in the group
file.

If you have further problems with 1.5.1 and .htaccess files,
refer to the patch posted on their HyperNews bug page.

1. Problems with NCSA 'DocFinder' under NCSA HTTPd 1.5

After a successful installation of the NCSA search tool 'Doc Finder' (with
freeWAIS 0.4) under CERN HTTPd 3.0, I tried to run it under NCSA HTTPd 1.5
(both under under Solaris 2.4).
Now there is a problem: Calling 'Doc Finder' with a WWW browser always results
in "SEARCH FOR [...] - No documents found" although running it directly in a
UNIX shell with the same search keywords returns several documents found.

If anybody has an idea where the problem might be, then please send an email
to:

Thanks a lot
