I'm trying to get user authentication to work with NCSA httpd-1.3. I've
got it to the point where the authentication box comes up, but then I get:
Your client does not have permission to get URL /~roy/testing/ from this server.
along with the following in my log file:
access to /usr/users/roy/public_html/testing/ failed for
mchip8.med.nyu.edu, reason: file permissions deny server access
Here's what my .htaccess file for the directory in question looks like:
require user roy
and the relevant part of my access.conf file:
The actual directory is world-readable (and executable, for that matter),
and all the individual files are word-readable.
I'm stumped. Anybody have any idea what's going on?
