Mod_Perl 1.99-08 install error

Post by Papa Oohmawma » Thu, 13 Feb 2003 12:12:14

I just installed Mod_Perl 1.99-08. After running 'make test' I got this
error

apr/perlio.t               11   11 100.00%  1-11
4 tests skipped.
*** server localhost.localdomain:8529 shutdown
!!! error running tests (please examine t/logs/error_log)
make: *** [run_tests] Error 1

What does this mean? What do I do to correct things?

But, I went a head and ran 'make install' and everything installed OK as
best as I could tell. I added this into my httpd.conf file:
"LoadModule perl_module modules/mod_perl.so" and Apache will stop and start
with no problems.

Am I OK? If not, what should I do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The error logs report this: Is this any help, I hope?

It looks like one of the tests tries to create a temporary file or
directory, and it's not permitted to write to that location.

If you really want to get all the tests to complete, try running make
test as root. You probably have little to worry about, though, if
everything else seems to work OK.

1. mod_perl 2 (1.99_09) test failed

I have built Apache 2.0.43 with mod_perl 1.99_07 without any
problem, but the newer version does not work for me.

I just downloaded the current version of mod-perl 1.99_09.
The platform is Solaris 8, gcc 3.2, perl 5.8.0 no threads,
apache 2.0.45 (prefork).

Apache 2.0.45 was built and running without any problem
by itself. I'm trying to add the mod_perl,
the make test failed.
$ perl Makefile.PL MP_INST_APACHE2=1 MP_AP_PREFIX=/home/apache2
$ make && make test
.....
APACHE_USER= APACHE_GROUP= APACHE_PORT= APACHE= APXS= \
/opt1/perl580/bin/perl -Iblib/arch/Apache2 -Iblib/lib/Apache2 \
t/TEST -verbose=0
/home/apache2/bin/httpd  -d /home/papache/modperl-2.0/t \
-f /home/papache/modperl-2.0/t/conf/httpd.conf -DAPACHE2

using Apache/2.0.45 (prefork MPM)

waiting for server to start:
.--------------------------------------------------

/filter/reverse.txt
literal count = 18 min=18
Length = 30 top_bracket = 0 top_backref = 0

First char = /
r = t
  0  26 Bra 0
  3  15 /filter/reverse
 20     Any
 21   3 txt
 26  26 Ket
 29     End
------------------------------------------------------------------
.............................................................
waiting for server to start: giving up after 61 secs
!!! server failed to start! (t/logs/error_log wasn't created, start the
server in the debug mode)
!!! oh gosh, server dumped core
!!! for stacktrace, run: gdb /home/apache2/bin/httpd -core
/home/papache/modperl-2.0/t/core
make: *** [run_tests] Error 1

I ran
$  gdb /home/apache2/bin/httpd -core /home/papache/modperl-2.0/t/core
and type 'r' at the debuger prompt and my httpd starts ok.

What else shall I try to solve my problem?
Thanks in advance!
