How do I get Apache option under Linuxconf, Config Networking, Server Tasks?

Post by Poste » Mon, 25 Jun 2001 06:01:53

Hi all,
I just installed Red Hat 7.1, custom, workstation with APACHE.  I then
manually loaded the Gnome Linuxconf.

My problem is under Linuxcof, Config, Networking, Server Tasks there is NO
Apache option.  How do I add it? I want to administer Apache under
Linuxconf. Is it not there because I installed Apache first with Linuxconf
being on the system.  Thanks!!!

I know this may not seem like a helpful response, but I would
seriously recommend not using linuxconf.  Just edit the httpd.conf
file directly.  There have been serious problems with Redhat's
Linuxconf and Apache configuration in the past.

Joshua,
Thats for the advice.  What do you think of using Comanche as a GUI for
Apache?

I've never used it myself, but it is put together by a fairly good group
of people.

1. DOS/Linux Connectivity Task Involving PCMCIA Network Card

I need to configure a boot diskette for a Toshiba notebook with a PCMCIA
network card to boot into MS-DOS and load enough software to map a drive
letter to a SAMBA network share (or, if it would be easier, an NFS exported
filesystem) hosted on a Linux machine.

I have no idea what it will take to do this.

My sense is that I'll need to load something first to recognize and handle the
PCMCIA card and then I'll need to load some network drivers and finally, I'll
need something to establish a connection and map the share (or NFS exported
filesystem) to a drive letter.

Once I get that far I intend to load a utility that will grab a disk image
from the server machine and replicate that image onto my notebook.  I've got
my hands on that utility.  It's the only part of this equation that
I understand.

I need to do this with a pair of notebooks, one Toshiba 400CDT and one
Toshiba 430 CDT.  Each of the notebooks make use of a Xircom CE3B-100BTX
running at 10 Mbps.

How should I proceed?

Is there any obvious reason technical reason why this can't be done?
