How can I simply hide the message "Connection closed by foreign host."
in telnet sessions? The problem occurs since this message is print over
the previous line which displays some other useful (I hope) information.

Now use "mytelnet" instead of regular telnet, and you won't see the
message anymore.

1. "Connection closed by foreign host"
I recently installed RedHat 4.2, and I'm having trouble maintaing my ISP
connection. Sometimes it works for hours, sometimes it drops me without
warning. Once I get the 'Connection closed by foreign host message' It
persistently drops me within a minute of redialing. This happens even
if I reboot and try dialing again. Of course, I can go right to my
Slackware machine, dial up, and everything is fine.
I've been dropped in the middle of telnet, ftp, netscape.....I was
dropped while pinging another machine too.
I've emailed various sources at school (my ISP), and they just shrug
their shoulders and say 'We don't know from Linux.' I have a friend who
has had the same problem. Any advice here would be most appreciated.
It seems as though the ISP is expecting some sort of signal, if it
doesn't get it, it kicks me out.
