First of all, "shell programming" covers more languages than just
one; csh, sh, ksh, and bash are all popular languages covered
individually by other books presenting the nuances of just that
language.

As your preference _should_ be ksh and related languages (bash,
zsh) my opinions for the best books to read (I own and/or have read
90% of those listed) are numbers 2 (or 3), 9, and 8, in approximately
that order. Mind though that the way you should choose a book is
to go to a technical book store and find the one that "speaks" to
you.
