Is there software to produce a shell archive ? If so where do I get it?

1. Q:producing PDF/postscript from software?
I am looking for a way to produce PDF (possibly via postscript) text
and graphics from a program. Can anyone suggest a software/library
that I can use?
Someone recommended using pstext and then Adobe distiller to
do the job. Are there any other solutions? Where can I find
pstext?
