problems compiling tcsh 6.00 on 386 running ISC 2.2.0

Hi Netpeople
I just ran into a little problem compiling the new tcsh version 6.00
on a 386 running Interactive Unix 2.2.0.
I used the included config file config/config.isc and gcc 1.39 (original
cc gave the same results) and all compiled just fine (had to define CSUSP cause
it wasnt defined anywhere, so I made it 032 (^Z as suspend char)).
The compiler just gave a few warnings about missing casts and nothing else.
Linking was done with the following libes: -lcurses -lcposix -linet.
When all was done I tried the tests mentioned in the README and they all
worked except the following two:
piping didnt work, gave me the error
tcsh: setpgid error (and occasionally the second jobs would hang saying
                                Suspended (tty output))
the vi-test resulted in the following:
after entering insert-mode and typing a few chars, leaving insert-mode
and suspending vi, then restarting it, all the chars I typed had gone
away (simply as if I had just started vi with an empty file)

Any Suggestions ???
Bye,
        Falcon

Just a note... After tweaking it to work under SCO Unix 3.2.2 running
GCC 1.40 (small compile changes related to defines & includes), I experience
the same problems, except some pipes work and others do not, seemingly
on a random basis... The job control is dead in a similar may to that
described.

I have notified Christos (sp?) of the problems.
