Problem using bang(!)....Endless Rolling

I am converting from a Bull machine to a Sun Solaris 2.4.
It has been 8 weeks I am having loads of trouble.

My problem today is going from a Database Menu (informix sql 6.0)
with a bang(!) to uniplex word processing. After I exit
uniplex the database menu goes on a roll and I have to kill the
processes.

Any suggestions would be Greatly Appreciated!
