array size limits? Getting arg list too long

Post by Bill Irw » Sat, 14 May 1994 17:24:42

Are there limits to the size of arrays that can be used with awk?
One of our users is getting the good ol' "arg list too long"
error, but when some arrays are made smaller the error goes away.

If this is an array limit, is there any way to adjust it?

A child can go only so far in life without potty training.  It is not
mere coincidence that six of the last seven presidents were potty
trained, not to mention nearly half of the nation's state legislators.
