zsh seg-faults when I run ftp

Post by Morgan Sta » Wed, 03 Jan 1996 04:00:00

ZShell consistantly does a segmentation fault every time I try to open
an ftp site with the "ftp" program.  It happens on both Solaris-2.4
and FreeBSD, and it doesn't happen when my shell is "sh" or "csh" so I
know it's not the ftp client (or server).

Here's the error message:
p
        ftp> o ftp.bur.visidyne.comm
        Connected to netsafe.bur.visidyne.com.
        220 netsafe.bur.visidyne.com FTP server (Version 6.00) ready.
zsh: 7273 segmentation fault (core dumped)  ftp

If anyone has any suggestions or knows about this problem, let me
know.  It could be something I'm doing, but I don't know what (this
has been a long-standing difficulty).

You don't mention what version of zsh you are using.  I'm one of the
developers of zsh, and I use Solaris 2.4.  I haven't seen the problem
you are mentioning.

I would suggest that you install zsh-2.6-beta13.  Don't let the beta scare
you.  Beta13 appears to be more stable than our previous production release.
I'm shooting for a new production release of zsh at the beginning of
March.

1. usermod seg-faults!

Hi all:
Just ftp'd the latest linux SLS from tsx-11, and I've found that usermod seg
faults when I try to move root's home from / to say, /user/root

This worked okay on previous SLS's, so if it's illegal, don't scream at
me...
