Forwarding mail via .forward -- how to?

Post by Dan Hero » Wed, 15 Feb 1995 00:03:10

Greetings,

I have two old inactive accounts that continue to receive email from users
who haven't learned of my new address.

How do I setup a .forward file to have all email received on those accounts
to be forwarded to my new address automatically?

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

In your home directory of the old accounts simply create a file
classed .forward that contains one line consisting of your new
address.  Be sure to test this after you are done because a screwed
up .forward can really mess up your mail.

1. mail forwarding problem with ".forward" file

I have a question about adding the ".forward" file in my unix user
directory.

I 'd like all incoming mails forwarded to another address temporarily whilst
I am away but I also want the machine to keep a copy of it for reference
when I return. Does anyone know how to do this? Normally I just put the
forwarding email address in the .forward file but it won't keep a copy of
it.

Thanks.
