use fvwm2 as default wm on AIX 4.3.3?

Post by fran » Fri, 08 Mar 2002 01:12:00

Our users want fvwm2 as their default window manager. It is already
installed. But now we have to kill tasks and start fvwm2 manually.

Does anyone know a manual, that describes how to setup this properly? I
found dozens of manuals, that describe this for Solaris (OpenWindow).

Please help...I just want the users to be able to choose fvwm2 as their
default wm. Is it possible on AIX?

Thank you!

        Just edit ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession
        Insert last command
                exec fvwm2
into one or both of them.

1. How to utilize icons for fvwm2 or any other wm?

High minds of the freebsd collective:

I am using fvwm/fvwm2. There is a directory in the X11R6 tree that
has all the icons for various applications (/usr/X11R6/share/...) and
this directory has icons like emacs.xpm, xv.xpm, etc. It also has
unknown1.xpm. I have come custom xpm files that I want fvwm2 to use
when I minimize a window. But my only success is with replacing
unknown1.xpm with my custom xpm (same name, "unknown.xpm").

What can I do to utilize other xpm file?

  Thanks for any inputs.
