AIX upgrade to 4.3.2: libc corrupt

Post by Gerhard Raimann, Physics Dept., Ohio State Uni » Mon, 07 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Problem:

# xlf hello.f
** test   === End of Compilation 1 ===
1501-510  Compilation successful for file hello.f.
ld: 0711-213 SEVERE ERROR: Archive file /usr/lib/libc.a is corrupt.
        The member header at offset 5732444 is invalid. The length of the
        member name (0) is greater than 255, less than or
        equal to 0, or is not consistent with the length of the archive.
        The member is being ignored.

The same happens for the xlc compiler.

System: RS6000 3CT, just upgraded from from AIX 4.3.0 to 4.3.2. I followed the Release Notes and did

        installp -acgXd /dev/cd0 bos.rte.install 4.3.2.0

and then

        smitty update_all

libc.a was fine before the upgrade. Any way to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Gerry
